This spring, ActUp Theater continues its season of dreams and social change with a soulful rendition of HAIRSPRAY, the Tony Award-winning musical.

A diverse cast of over 60 explodes onto the stage with funky dances and soulful songs! With endless energy and vibrant dancing, HAIRSPRAY weaves in thought-provoking themes such as promoting equality despite differences in race, religion, color, or appearance. The story HAIRSPRAY addresses segregation and prejudice, yet highlights how freedom of expression and individuality can create change when people work together. Through this display of art, ActUp Theater maintains its mission to elevate social justice conversations within its productions and recognize the continuous need for progress in our community.

ActUp Theater’s Broadway-style productions give inner-city youth and adults the opportunity to create quality art that is relevant to and reflective of their own community. All ticket sales go back into the operations of the program. ActUp shines a light on how change can happen by creating a safe and creative space for inner-city youth from over 25 schools to express themselves and learn about social justice issues that occur in our community every day.
