Spunky young orphans take on the Hard Knock Life with spectacular hip-hop dance breaks and a smokin' jazz score. But when Annie dreams of a better Tomorrow, reality gives her an opportunity for a new life. The rich and eccentric Mr. Warbucks come head-to-head with the talented, yet villainous Ms. Hannigan and her family.

ActUp Theater enters its 2019-2020 season with the theme of “I Am Enough!”
The classic story of Annie is thrust into the 21st century as ActUp Theater refreshes its community's favorite annual event for its fourth continuation of: EBONY ANNIE. On top of being a millennial, Annie is a foster kid living with her nemesis, Miss. Hannigan, so it's hard to find where you belong or understand why you have such a hard knock life. Annie uses her social media feed to maneuver her way around the city in hopes of finding her parents, which leads to many unforeseen adventures, hilarious moments and struggles with real-world relationships.
When the rich and powerful, Mr. Warbucks, offers her an out to her situation, she is forced to overcome insecurity and fear to realize… I Am Enough!

ActUp Theater’s Ebony Annie comes alive on the stage this holiday season with their highly anticipated 3rd annual production! The Broadway-style sensation will approach the classic from a unique, relevant angle! Mother-daughter duo, Faithlyn and Tyler, direct a multicultural cast of over 50 inner-city youth and community members with extraordinary talent.
Our version explodes high energy dancing and comedy that will have the audience laughing and singing in their seats. We are excited to perform our most dazzling production of Ebony Annie yet.
Breonna Walker starred as "Ebony Annie" for all four performances of Ebony Annie the 2018 holiday season. Walker is a 27-year-old recording artist and came from a family of musical professionals. She performed in Triple-R, a short-filled called and has sung jazz numbers at Big Belly Kelly's. She is a member of the third Tabernacle Church of God and Saint of Christ. Her first production with ActUp was Spring 2018, where she starred as “Dorothy” in 2 productions of The Wiz. She is proud to be starring in Ebony Annie.

New eyes are now on the musical Annie! ActUp Theater Company is producing their second annual holiday show for the entire family called “Ebony Annie the Hip-Hop Musical!”
This holiday season, ActUp Theater Company is excited to partner again with Simpson Waverly School and welcomes JusMove Studio’s choreography to make the Broadway-styled production have a fresh and energized depiction of this story of resilience.
The multicultural cast is as diverse as it is talented and comes from all around the region. In today’s society, it is easy to lose hope, but this performance will renew your spirit and strengthen your resolve. This year you will explore the importance of fathers in a child's life with the relationship between Annie and Mr. Warbucks.

ActUp Theater, Inc. presents a new adaptation of the original story, told from the perspective of cultural relevance, and a keen awareness of the state of foster care in today's society. Debut during the holidays where it sheds light on charity, family, and hope. The resounding songs and a sense of resilience echoes throughout this vibrant remix depiction of Annie.
Her seemingly hopeless situation changes drastically and takes her on a quest of self-discovery while redefining the meaning of family. ActUp Theater once again holds a mirror to the audience to ask themselves, "What happens to the other orphans that are left behind..."
